CHENNAI: A day after a case of land grab was registered against him and five others by the Central Crime Branch, DMK treasurer and former deputy chief minister M K Stalin submitted two petitions at the DGP’s office here on Friday, claiming that the charges were false and that a case be registered against Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for encroaching upon public land in Kodanadu. Accompanied by DMK legal wing secretary Alandur Bharathi, Stalin arrived at the state police headquarters around 11.30 am. Since DGP K Ramanujam was not present, Stalin met Additional Director General of Police (Administration) T K Rajendran and handed over the petitions to him.Addressing reporters outside the DGP’s office later, Stalin said: “Police have falsely implicated me, my son and four others in the land grab case. The complainant was coerced to foist a false case. I explained this to ADGP T K Rajendran. If an FIR is registered, the persons named in it should be arrested. I have not been arrested. I came here to insist to the DGP to arrest me.”Stating that he was the sitting MLA from Kolathur, he said: “The FIR registered against me is baseless. It has been registered only to settle political scores. I have absolutely no connection with the property mentioned in the case. My son entered into a rental agreement with the present owner of the property through his film company. The complaint was given only to tarnish my image. The police machinery is being misused,” he saidThe DMK MLA said he had asked the police to register a case against complainant N Seshadrikumar for filing a false complaint. In the second petition, Stalin alleged that Jayalalithaa had acquired vast tracts of land from the poor in Kodanadu. But no land grab case was registered.
