Cop suspended in gangrape case

BALASORE: The second officer of Baliapal police station SK Bhujbal has been suspended for misleading the rape victim’s family, who had initially met him to lodge the complaint.  Balasore SP Rajesh Kumar on Thursday said though the incident occurred on October 14 night, it was allegde that, the officer who was present in the police station the following day didn’t receive the complaint when the victim’s mother approached him. The police action came a day after the victim’s family alleged political hand behind it. The girl was allegedly gangraped by four youths and her mother had claimed that political intervention was preventing the arrest of the accused.
