HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) is preparing to conduct counselling for various programmes, that has been suspended due to the Sakala Janula Samme that started more than a month ago.The council hopes that there would be a break in the stir as various constituents of the agitation like teachers and RTC and Singareni Collieries staff had deferred their strike. The council feels that further delay in completing the exercise will seriously jeopardise the interests of students. The second phase counselling of Eamcet (B Pharmacy - BiPC stream), Icet (MBA, MCA), CEEP (Polytechnic) and the first phase counselling of Dietcet (TTC) and M.Tech and M Pharmacy was suspended due to the strike.Except for Dietcet, counselling for the remaining courses will be conducted by the APSCHE. APSCHE chairman P Jayaprakash Rao said a week was enough to complete the counselling for Icet, Edcet, Ceep, Eamcet, M.Tech and M.Pharmacy and they were ready to start the process at the first opportunity. The department of school education also postponed the first phase counselling of Dietcet scheduled on September 26 indefinitely owing to the the strike in the region. While about 1.90 lakh students qualified for the Dietcet this year, 50,000 were called for the first phase of the counselling to fill 12,000 seats across the state. The students were anxious about the delay because those who fail to get through the process would be losing an opportunity to join other courses too as admissions would have closed by then.
