BANGALORE: A couple ended their lives by hanging themselves at their residence at Rajeshwari Nagar in Laggere in Rajagopalanagar police station limits. Though they committed suicide on Saturday, the incident came to light only on Sunday.The deceased have been identified as Goutham (35), an electrician and his wife Pankaja (28), a tailor in a garments factory.The couple had an inter caste marriage ten years ago. They have a seven-year-old son, Mohan.According to the police, Pankaja was suffering from health problems and recently she came to know of a problem with her eye sight. She was apparently depressed over this.On Saturday, she sent her son to the school and hanged herself to the ceiling at her house. Goutham came in the evening and found her dead. Dejected over her death, he also hanged himself.Meanwhile, one of their neighbours had brought Mohan from school and the boy was staying with them.When his parents did not come to take him back home, the neighbours went to their house on Sunday morning and their bodies hanging.“Goutham has left behind a suicide note stating that he could not live without his wife and hence he was also ending his life. It is also suspected that the couple did not have enough money to get treatment for her health problems. This might have also led them to end their lives,” the police added.A postmortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital mortuary.Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
