A tragic incident unfolded late Tuesday night in Delhi’s Tagore Garden where a customer was fatally attacked with a seekh kebab rod following a dispute over a delayed food order. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Harneet Singh Sachdeva from Chandra Vihar, was assaulted by the restaurant owner and his son for approximately 10 minutes before succumbing to his injuries.
Harneet, a painter by profession, had visited the take-away counter named Ketan Food with two friends. After experiencing a prolonged delay in receiving their order, Harneet inquired about the status and was informed that it would take additional time. When the food was still not served, Harneet confronted the staff, leading to a heated exchange and escalating into violence.
The restaurant staff then called the owner Ajay Narula and his son, Ketan, to the scene. Upon arrival, they began assaulting Harneet with a seekh kebab rod and punches, continuing the attack for over ten minutes. The violence also extended to Harneet’s friends who attempted to intervene. Harneet eventually lost consciousness and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police were informed soon after who then conducted a post-mortem and handed the body over to the family. The restaurant owner and his son have been arrested and are currently being interrogated by the police. Alongside, several other restaurant employees also been arrested and are being questioned.
The police have secured CCTV footage from the restaurant, which clearly shows the father-son duo attacking Harneet. They have also seized the DVR used for recording the footage. The investigation is also exploring why the restaurant was operating late into the night in an upscale area.
