New Delhi: The CBI on Tuesday conducted country-wide raids in connection with the multi-crore defence scam exposed by a Tehelka sting operation.
The raids were being conducted in connection with four defence related cases which included the process and purchase of Denel rifles, Barhack missiles and armed recovery vehicles. On the CBI radar were arm dealers and middlemen.
Thirty-five places in Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Mumbai were raided. This includes the office and residential premises of Congress MLA Arvind Khanna, his father Vipin Khanna and Suresh Nanda, son of former Admiral S Nanda.
Sudhir Chaudhary and M S Swahaney are the other defence dealers whose properties are being raided by the CBI. The CBI alleges that these defence dealers were middlemen in obtaining various defence deals.
