New Delhi: The national capital has the lowest percentage of women voters in the country, the Election Commission (EC) said on Wednesday. The EC said that of the over eight crore voters in the country, 52.4 percent are male and 47.6 percent are female.
As per the electoral data of 2014 released by the commission Feb 14, of the 814,591,184 voters, Delhi has the lowest proportion of female voters at 44.57 percent, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 45.2 percent. Puducherry has the highest number of female voters at over 52 percent followed by Kerala at 51.9 percent.
According to the EC, eight states and union territories have higher female voters than male.
The EC said 0.0035 percent of the voters in the country fell under the 'others' category and among the 28 states and seven union territories, 17 of them have such voters, with Karnataka topping the list followed by Uttar Pradesh.
