The ‘Do or Die’ call by Team Anna will be carried forward in Bhubaneswar by three India Against Corruption (IAC) volunteers who will sit on an indefinite fast from July 25.
The latest stir by Team Anna and its supporters is to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) against the 15 other Central ministers. Calling the agitation the last attempt at driving corruption away from the country, volunteers from IAC will be staging an indefinite strike across the country.
Nishikant Mohapatra, Santosh Panda and Sisir Mohapatra will be on an indefinite fast from July 25 and will be representing the State for IAC. When asked why this was being called the last attempt, Nishikant replies, “We know the government will not act on the Jan Lokpal and implement it. So we are pushing ahead with the demand for a SIT against the tainted cabinet ministers.” He added that they had already named the ministers against whom they want the SIT to inquire into the alleged corruption cases.
He also claimed that the Odisha Lokpal was incapable and incompetent of disposing of the corruption-related cases and the grave need for a complete overhaul of the system for proper implementation of Jan Lokapal bill. “Around 30 cases have been investigated under the Odisha Lokpal Body, but no decision has been taken on any of them yet. Also 21 cases are yet to be presented in the State Assembly, in spite of the Governor’s direction,” said Nishikant.
IAC Odisha volunteers will kick off with a massive rally on July 24, where they have invited public participation. The three volunteers will sit on an indefinite strike and the rest of the volunteers will be on a dharna at the IAC headquarters till their demands are met. IAC volunteers across the State will sit on a dharna at IAC’s district headquarters.
