New Delhi: The domestic help accused in a double murder case in Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Friday has been sent to one-day police custody by a local court.
Mithilesh, who stabbed to death a retired Army officer's mother and son, was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Vrinda Kumari on Saturday.
Although the police had sought his seven days' police custody contending the accused had been frequently changing his statements and detailed interrogation was necessary, the Metropolitan Magistrate allowed Mithilesh to one-day police custody.
Mithilesh stabbed to death the Colonel's mother, Surjeet, and son, Karan Singh before robbing cash and gold ornaments. His daughter was also injured the attack.
The servant, a native of Bihar, was reportedly as close as a family member and trustworthy.
"The servant first murdered the lady and then the 11-year-old child. He was about to escape with the valuables when the 15-year-old daughter came home. He told her he had killed her brother and was about to kill her too. But she ran and called for help. The guard then arrested the servant," says DCP Ravinder Yadav.
According to PTI, Delhi Police Commissioner has announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for the security guard, Bahadur Singh, and decided to recommend the teenaged girl's name for a bravery award.
