CHENNAI: A rally of ex-servicemen, being organised under the aegis of Headquarters Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala Area is scheduled to take place on March 4 at the Punjab Unit Campus, opposite Tirusulam Railway Station, Pallavaram. Lieutenant General Subroto Mitra, General Officer Commanding, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala Area, will inaugurate the rally. About 3,000 ex-servicemen from Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Puducherry, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai and Cuddalore Districts are expected to attend the rally.Medical consultation and on the spot treatment including specialist cover for general medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and dental surgery will be available and the recruitment information stalls will guide the aspiring candidates and parents belonging to the services about various entry options into armed forces at the rally site. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) will also have a booth at the rally to provide information and assistance for the eligible ex-servicemen and widows to join the scheme.Representation of the Army Placement Welfare Node, Army Placement Agency, District Zila Sainik Board and 10 Records Offices are taking part in the rally and will be providing necessary information to the participants. The rally will commence at 9am and close by 5pm. According to a release, ex-servicemen and widows must bring their respective identity cards, discharge books, pension payment order (PPO), updated bank passbook and ECHS smart card without which they would not be permitted to participate in the rally.
