HYDERABAD: A BSc graduate and black belt holder in Shaolin Kung Fu was arrested on Friday for committing robberies in the guise of a policeman.The accused, A Srujan Kumar alias Surya, hails from Warangal and is residing at Borabanda now.According to Task Force DCP Ch Ramchander, Surya worked as a bodyguard to a director of a reputed software company at Madhapur here with the experience of possessing a black belt in martial arts. While working in the company, he trapped a minor girl and eloped with her to Vijayawada and married her.A kidnap case was registered and he was sentenced to five years in jail.Srujan Kumar, however, challenged the verdict in a higher court and secured bail.In prison he came in contact with an offender, S Vijay, and, on release, the duo, posing as policemen, committed six robberies in the areas of Saroornagar, Ramgopalpet, Madhapur, Asifnagar and Kukatpally. He had been arrested earlier by the Asifnagar police in an Arms Act case.As he jumped bail, non-bailable warrants were issued against him and he has been evading arrest for the past two years. “After lying low for some time, Srujan Kumar started committing robberies again in the recent past. He committed five robberies or extortions at Rajendranagar and Nallakunta posing as a policeman,” Ramchander said.Srujan Kumar's main targets were couples visiting parks or triple-riding bikers.“He approaches them by posing himself as a policeman and robs them or extorts valuables from them. The victims part with gold or cash in return for being not booked,” the DCP said.Srujan Kumar was nabbed near Amba Theatre at Mehdipatnam and was handed over to the Asifnagar police for further action.
