BANGALORE: Goethe-Institut/Max Muller Bhavan has planned a list of events to commemorate 'The European Day of Languages’ on September 26. The institute along with its European partners in the city will celebrate the day to recognise the plurality of European languages.“The general objective of the day is to increase cultural understanding and promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe,” said Hans Gunter Loffler, deputy consul general, Federal Republic of Germany. Alliance Francais (French), Nordic Talks (Swedish), Italian Center (Italian), Instituto Hispania (Spanish) and Institute of Universal Language and Education (Portugese) will join hands with the institute to celebrate the day.The other programmes include a dance performance called Solo for two by Storm on September 24, Dialogue of the Drums on September 30. To celebrate the German National Day, the Deutsche Philharmonic Merck will perform at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, on October 3. On September 26, a 20-minute language class, information about the country and culture, study and work in the country, special performances, short film screening and food of the respective countries can be experienced.
