A gang of 12 members carried out a daring daylight robbery on the National Highway near Peechi in Kerala as they cornered a car, kidnapped two people and looted over 2.5kg of gold ornaments, the police said on Thursday.
The dashcam video of the incident that surfaced on social media showed at least three SUVs blocking their target vehicle when the highway narrowed on the side of the flyover which was under construction.
Taking advantage of the conditions, the three SUVs boxed in the car of the victim, after which at least 12 gang members came out and kidnapped the two men.

The police claimed that a complaint regarding the incident was received on Wednesday and a FIR was lodged under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), reported news agency PTI.
The FIR claimed that the incident took place on September 22 when both the victims, identified as Arun Sunny and Rojy Thomas, were kidnapped.
The complaints in the FIR alleged they were beaten up and jewellery worth ₹ 1.84 crore was looted by the gang. They were released later. Police said they are investigating the case.
