New Delhi: India's Gaurav Ghei was the lone survivor to advance in the BMW Asian Open golf tournament in Shanghai on Friday.
Ghei finished the day tied on 44th to ensure he stayed in competition for the weekend, unlike his compatriots who failed to make the cut. Shiv Kapur did make the cut, but had to pull out due to a back strain.
France's Raphael Jacquelin holds the lead at this stage of the tournament, but the unique feature has been second place Lee Sung Man of Korea, who is deaf and mute and is looking for his maiden win on Asian or European Tour.
Miguel Angel Jimenez, a former Asian Open champion and Colin Montgomerie, were tied for third place.
Promising Indian players Raheel Gangjee, SSP Chowrasia and Amandeep Johl were the ones other than Kapur to exit the tournament.
