GHMC chief cuts idle sweepers pay

HYDERABAD: GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu found some sweepers sitting idle and had their contract cut two days of their salary on Tuesday. He also ordered a penalty imposed on the contractor.Krishna Babu was on an inspection tour of the route to be taken by the Ganesh immersion procession when he saw the sweepers idling at Shah Ali Banda.On the Salar Jung Museum road, the commissioner instructed the DMC Circle V to have debris removed and to take up footpath work. At Purani Haveli, he gave ordered a charge memo issue against an executive engineer when he saw unhygienic conditions at a bus stop. Similarly at Moghalpura, he instructed clearance of debris.Later, he inspected the Balapur area where road work is in progress.
