HYDERABAD: The casual election to Ward-117 (KPHB Colony) of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation went off peacefully on Sunday.The total polling percentage was around 35.39 percent.Of the total 70,187 voters (38,857 men and 31,330 women) about 24,838 voters exercised their franchise (13,723 men and 11,115 women). Although, 11 candidates are in the fray, the main contest is likely to be among Dandamudi Venkata Samrajyam (TDP) and Harish Chandra Reddy Pannala (Congress).The rest are independent candidates. The seat fell vacant due to sudden demise of sitting TDP corporator Dandamundi Shobhanadri. GHMC officials stated that about 360 polling personnel were deployed for smooth conduct of the elections.Polling was held in 72 polling stations, including 62 main stations and 10 auxiliary stations. About 90 electronic voting machines (EVMs) were used in the election.
