BANGALORE: Unable to bear the alleged harassment by her husband, a woman along with her 11-year-old daughter jumped into a well and ended life. The incident took place in Tokinayakanadoddi village in Satanur police station limits in Kanakapur.The deceased has been identified as Lakshmibai (32). She had married Shivaraja Naik, a tailor, a few years ago and the couple had two daughters.According to the police, Naik was a habitual drunkard and used to assault his wife and daughter every day. This had led to a marital discord. Parents of both Naik and Lakshmibai thought that if he stays away from family, he would realise their importance and had opened a shop in KM Doddi in Mandya. However, Naik reportedly did not mend his behaviour and continued to harass his wife and daughter.“Lakshmibai and Jyothi were missing since Thursday and their bodies were found floating in an open well on the outskirts of their village on Saturday morning. It is suspected that they might have committed suicide. Lakshmibai’s elder brother has filed a complaint against Naik,” the police explained.Satanur police are investigating the case.Unable to Clear Debts, Man Hangs SelfUnable to repay debts, a 26-year-old man ended his life by hanging at his room in Yeshwantpur on Friday. The deceased Deepak Gowda, was a native of Mudigere in Chickmagalur. The police said that he was an employee at a Cafe Coffee Day outlet in Yeshwantpur since six months, and stayed along with his friend. On Friday evening he hanged from a ceiling fan and committed suicide. The incident came to light when his friend returned in the night.It is alleged that Deepak had indulged in cricket betting and lost money. This had left him in huge debt. Unable to repay, he might have ended his life, the police suspected. Yeshwantpur police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.Worker Killed In a hit and run case reported in Yogeshnagar near Hebbal ring road on Friday night, Mohan Raju (36) was killed on the spot after an unidentified vehicle ran over him.Raju, a daily wage worker, was returning home in the night when he was killed.
