Government told to issue GO on fee by Saturday

The AP High Court on Wednesday directed the state government to notify the GOs in terms of proceedings issued by the Admissions & Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) fixing the fee for different colleges by Saturday.

Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy, while disposing of a writ petition by student G Pooja Reddy, directed the government to strictly adhere to the schedules already furnished by the AFRC. He took on record the submissions placed by the Additional Advocate General Krishna Moorthy on the issue.

The AFRC has submitted its report in a sealed cover pertaining to fixing of fee structure in court.

It is learnt that the AFRC has fixed the fee ranging from Rs 35,000 to Rs 60,000 per student depending on the infrastructure and other facilities available in colleges.

During the arguments, Krishna Moorthy said that the government would issue GOs on fee structure shortly as the file concerned was under circulation. But the judge took exception to it and remarked that it was nothing but misuse of ministerial powers.

“How can the government violate its own affidavit (relating to engineering counselling schedule)? Already the AFRC has given its report. What is the problem in issuing the GO on Friday? What is the reason for the reluctance even when thousands of students are waiting for it,” he remarked.

Following the judge’s direction, the Krishna Moorthy said that the government will issue the GO by Saturday.
