CHENNAI: The Madras HC has ordered notice on a writ petition praying for a direction to the Kancheepuram District Collector to pass orders on a representation against Sriperumbudur Panchayat Union chairman and vice-chairperson.Justice K Chandru ordered the notice for a writ petition from D Yesupillai of Varadapuram, also president of the Valarpuram panchayat. In his petition, Yesupillai alleged that the chairman C Venkatesan and vice-chairperson S Shivakumar, colluding with the local block development officer and road inspectors had indulged in irregularities and siphoned off huge sums from the Union General Fund. He lodged a complaint with the local DSP on March 16 this year. As there was no action, he preferred a criminal original petition in the HC for a direction to the DSP to register an FIR on his complaint. However, the court permitted the petitioner to withdraw his petition to approach the Collector by making a proper representation. On the basis of the order, he sent a detailed representation to the Collector on April 12. But there was no progress. Hence, the present petition, Yesupillai said.
