BANGALORE: Sri Vani Public School celebrated its Annual Day with the theme ‘Go green’ on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, A S Sadashivaiah, Chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and former chairman of BWSSB P B Ramamurthy appreciated the initiative of the School authorities. Stressing on the need of water conservation Ramamurthy said, “Water is being pumped from Cauvery reservoirs which are situated 100 kms away from Bangalore and it is pumped to a height seven times the height of Qutub Minar, hence water should be used judiciously.”R H Sharadaprasad, Principal, Sri Vani Public School, said, “We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers, but we have borrowed it. In the same way, we need to hand it over to the next generation intact. Working towards this effect, this is a small initiative by the school.”The theme was well depicted in all programmes presented by the students. A dance titled  ‘Mayhem’ portrayed the disastrous effects that pollution has over environment.  ‘Happy Feet’, a dance by two sections of the school, dealt with  the melting of polar caps and the disturbance faced by marine life.
