Hang the rapists says Tamil actor Ameer

In the backdrop of the growing outrage against the gang-rape of a 22 year-old student in New Delhi, director actor Ameer has said the rapists should be hanged in public.

In a statement, he urged the government to ensure that those involved in the brutal crime are hanged in public before the end of this month.

"Also, the punishment given to them should be telecast in all television channels, in order to instill fear in the minds of wrong-doers," he said.

Ameer's statement comes at a time when there are protests across India that violence against women should be strongly spoken against and put down with.
