BANGALORE: The High Court on Friday permitted the airport authorities to shift movable infrastructure and other facilities available at HAL airport to other airports in the state, after the authorities argued that many equipment were defunct ever since the court ordered them to maintain status quo.The division bench comprising Justice K Sreedhar Rao and Justice L Narayanaswamy granted permission after hearing the petition by the Airport Authorities of India, stating that several equipment and infrastructure were lying unused and urged the court to permit them to shift to any other airport until the matter was settled. Petitioners further assured they would install new equipment and provide infrastructure in the future, and till then the defunct equipment should be allowed to be shifted. The bench adjourned a batch of petitions seeking reopening of HAL airport for commercial operations contending that a Parliamentary committee on Transport, Culture and Tourism had recommended the reopening.
