BANGALORE: The state government has warned of action against House Building Co-operative Societies (HBCs) for a host of violations, including superseding allotment of sites and houses by violating the guidelines adopted by them.Cooperation Minister Lakshman Savadi said that his department has issued notices to as many as 80 HBCs after receiving complaints of alleged violations in site allotments to non-members by overlooking the seniority of existing members.Informing that inquiry officers have been appointed by the department under rule 64 of the Co-operative Act to look into the alleged violations of 23 HBCs.“The department has appointed administrators and issued closure notices to two HCBs each. Societies axed for misdeeds are Jayachamarajendra House Building Cooperative Society, Mysore; and ABL HBCS Gulbarga,” the minister said.Savadi said that department officials slapped notices on Vidhana Mandala Employees House Building Cooperative Society, Vyalikaval HBC and Kanaka HBCs, seeking explanation for the alleged allotment of sites in violation of regulations."We will wait for a response from societies facing charges and take suitable action under law,” he said.
