The Indian Air Force held its annual workshop on disaster management on Tuesday at Phalodi in Jodhpur to train officials of Rajasthan government in dealing with natural calamities like flood and earthquake.
The event was organised by the Air Force station in Phalodi under the aegis of South Western Air Command, a Defence PRO said here. Training was imparted to the helicopter crew and the state government officials, the PRO said.
It would help them in rescuing people during natural disasters and air dropping food and water to the stranded victims.
The State Civil Disaster Management Team was briefed about the capabilities and limitations of the aircraft in this type of situations, especially during flood relief operations.
The Phalodi Air Force Station is equipped with modern helicopters which have enhanced the ability of the Indian Air Force in handling disaster relief operations in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the PRO claimed.
