I'm victim of Cong conspiracy: Munda
Arjun Munda on Thursday blamed the Congress for the fall of his "popular government" in Jharkhand.

Ranchi: Echoing BJP President Rajnath Singh, caretaker Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Thursday blamed the Congress for the fall of his "popular government" in the state.

"We are a victim of Congress conspiracy. It's a conspiracy hatched to remove non-Congress governments that started from 1959 with the dismissal of the Namboodripad government in Kerala," Munda said shortly after stepping down from the chief minister's post.

Claiming that till Thursday morning, "some people" had approached him with certain conditions to save his government, Munda said, "I firmly told them that I would like to run a government based on principles, ideology, policies and programmes rather than succumbing to conditions".

The Chief Minister evaded a query when asked whether it was money or demand for portoflio that had been the conditions placed before him before the trust vote.

Stating that he preferred to quit on the floor rather than taking the trust vote following the "deep rooted conspiracy", he said, "Congress has showed its real character once again".

Warning that such destabilisation would only affect future generations, Munda said he would go to the people to make them aware of the conspiracy that led to his downfall.

He said, "I don't know who is the UPA chief ministerial candidate. But if the reports are true that an independent will head their government, then I definitely want to know their commitment for the development of Jharkhand."

Munda asked Congress and RJD whether an Independent could have any programme and policy, ideology and principle to govern a state.

What's your reaction?
