BHUBANESWAR: A person has been arrested by the Government Railway Police for impersonating as an MP and making calls to the RPF on Sunday night. The accused, identified as Jitendra Kumar Sahu, made calls to an RPF personnel posing as Berhampur MP Siddhant Mohapatra. Police said, an RPF constable Satya Prakash Yadav had rounded up an autorickshaw driver, Narendra Jena, for picking an altercation over illegal parking. Once Jena was taken to the police station, Yadav received a call and the caller, identifying himself to be the MP, asked for the driver’s release. When the number was verified and a background check was made, the caller turned out to be Sahu, a resident of Kolathia near Khurda. He was arrested immediately.DIES OF SNAKEBITE: A woman employee of Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology died on Monday evening following a snakebite. Ashalata Sandhibigraha was rushed to Capital Hospital where she was allegedly made to wait for such a long period that the snake venom took its toll. Postmortem could not be conducted since the incident had occurred during evening.
