In a bizarre incident, an elderly woman was allegedly thrashed and tied to an electric pole by her son in Odisha’s Keonjhar district. The son’s action came after the woman plucked the vegetable from her younger son’s farmland in Sarasapasi village.
The incident took a bad turn when an argument broke out between the mother-son duo following which the son tied her mother to an electric pole and thrashed her.
“My younger son thrashed me for stealing cauliflower. After beating me, he tied me to an electric pole. As my son also beats his wife, she did not dare to rescue me,” victim Subhadra Mahant alleged.
Subhadra was brutally beaten up by her son, reported Odisha TV. No official police complaint has been lodged in connection with the matter.
As the argument between the duo escalated, the villagers intervened in the matter. However, the son threatened them and asked them to stay away.
The woman was later rescued by the villagers and was sent to the Basudevpur Community Health Centre for treatment.
Notably, Subhadra was staying with her elder son, who died a few years ago due to some unknown disease. Subhadra’s younger son was staying separately with his wife.
