Even after losing the toss India made a good start with the bowlers doing a good job. The Indian bowlers were helped by some poor batting by England batsmen.
The openers started on a good note by Strauss chased a wide ball. That was a very rash shot and reminded me of my playing days when I used to play the same way to gift away my wicket.
Irfan Pathan bowled a good line and length to Cook and it was evident that he had a plan for Cook.
Cook is not very comfortable playing the incoming balls and he consistently bowled incoming balls to Cook, which trapped him LBW.
Kevin Pietersen was the best batsman on view and he has show a lot of aggression and positive approach in his batting. He is a new comer to the England team but the way he bats and the stability that he has provided to the middle order means that he is now one of the senior player.
He is ready to play his shots and this is the best way to put the bowling team on the defensive.
But overall the match is in India's favour provided the weather allows tha game to go ahead.
I was happy with the way all the Indian bowlers bowled. Munaf showed great control and this being his debut match he did not go all. This is a good sign and shows that he knows what it takes to take wicket at the international stage.
Piyush Chawla was also good in the field and the way he bowled showed that he was not owverawed by the occassion.
Tommorrow India should try to break the partnership between Collingwood and Flintoff as sson as possible and wrap up England's innings.
On a personal note I congratulate Flintoff on becoming the father of a cute little boy.
