Indian embassy misled us: Rescued students
Indians students claim that they have been left to fend for themselves in the Kyrgyzstan capital.

Bishkek/ New Delhi: Indian Embassy with the help of Kyrgyz government rescued 78 Indians from riot-hit Osh and Jalalabad cities and brought them to Kyrgyzstan capital Bishkek late on Monday night.

But the Indians brought to Bishkek have been left to fend for themselves in the Kyrgyzstan capital. They complain that they have not been provided proper accommodations and have been forced to live in cramped rooms with very few facilities.

One of the stranded students, Tripta Gupta, blamed the Indian Embassy for misleading them.

"We have been brought to Bishkek saying we will be sent to Delhi but were have been left on our own. The girls were given shelter at night but the boys were made to spend night outside on their own," said Gupta.

"No arrangements have been made for Indian students. The students were told to make their own arrangements of stay or return."

ICCR professor Badaruddin, who was rescued along with the students, said some students are still trapped in Osh.

"We are staying at Bishkek at a hostel of medical students. There are about 150 students. The Indian Embassy is giving us all help. One or two students are still stuck up at Osh and we have no idea what and how they are managing. We are not able to contact them," said Badaruddin.

The Indian Embassy and Ministry of External Affairs claimed that all Indians in the troubled area have been evacuated.

"Our mission in active co-operation with Kyrgyz government has safely evacuated 77 Indian students and one Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) professor from Osh to Bishkek. Efforts are on to get the others out from Osh and Jalalabad," MEA said in a statement.

Over 100 Indians were trapped in the violence-hit Kyrgyz city which has been hit by ethnic violence for the last three days leaving many people dead.

The trapped Indians included around 15 students in Jalalabad and around 99 students, a professor and a businessman, in Osh.

Over 80,000 Uzbeks have fled the ethnic violence in the country and over 114 are reported to have been killed.
