Indian Navy organises coastal security awareness campaign in Kerala

Kochi: The Navy on Sunday organised a two-day coastal security awareness campaign (CSACs) along the coastal villages of Alappuzha district to spread awareness among the populace about threats from the sea and their role in thwarting it. The campaign will also include officers from Southern Naval Command giving awareness tips to the fishermen about various safety precautions to be taken at sea.

An official release said the campaign is being co-ordinated by the Naval Officer in-Charge (NOIC) Capt Varghese Mathew. The occasion was also utilized by the Naval Hospital at Kochi, INHS Sanjivani, to organise a medical camp at St Francis Higher Secondary School, Arthungal village for the benefit of the coastal population.

The medical team headed by Surgeon Capt K Chatterjee comprised of an eye specialist, skin specialist, dentist and general physician. Free health check up was carried out during the day and essential medicines were distributed, the release said.

The Department of Fisheries and Coastal Police also participated in the campaign.
