Indian-origin woman sets fire to hubby's genitals, murders
Adelaide resident suspected her husband was having an affair.

Melbourne: An Indian-origin woman in Australia has been charged with murder after she was arrested for allegedly setting fire to her husband's genitals and killing him.

"It's just a penis I wanted to burn—I didn't mean this to happen," Rajni Narayan, 44, reportedly told her neigbours after the fire killed her husband and destroyed their $700,000-house in Adelaide’s Cleveland Avenue.

Rajni suspected her husband, 47-year old Satish Narayan, was having an affair. Satish succumbed to his burns in a hospital last week, the Adelaide Now daily reported.

"I am a jealous wife; his penis should belong to me. I just wanted to burn his penis, so it belongs to me and no one else," Rajni allegedly told neighbours.

A prosecutor in the case claimed Satish, an engineer, was asleep in their double-storey house when Rajni set his genitals on fire after pouring methylated spirit on him on December 8 last, the Adelaide Now said. The fire also damaged neighbouring houses.

Rajni has been remanded to police custody until Friday and has to take a psychological assessment test. “She poses a substantial risk to others given her flagrant offending," prosecutor Lucy Boord told the Adelaide Magistrates Court which is hearing the charges against Rajni.
