KOCHI: Infopark has invited Request for Proposals (RFP) from companies for the co-development of the second phase. According to the masterplan developed by Canon Designs USA, a green township has been envisaged on the banks of Kadambrayar river.“We are looking for co-developers with experience in IT infrastructure development for setting up IT/BPO complexes in 97 acres of SEZ area. We are also eyeing IT companies with large employee presence to develop their campus in the second phase of Infopark,” said Infopark CEO Gigo Joseph. Developers have options to construct hotels, convention centres, sports club and other recreational facilities in the additional 25 acres of non-SEZ area.“Work on the development of the second phase of Infopark is moving at a fast pace. The earth filling for the first building, by RSP Constructions, is underway. East Cost Constructions & Industries Ltd has been awarded the contract to build the first IT building. Developing basic infrastructure facilities like substation, power distribution, internal road system, water intake, treatment and storage, data & communication connectivity, land development, compound wall, guest house, common food courts have already begun,” he said. The second phase is being developed in 160 acres of land at Kunnathunadu and Puthencruz villages. The total area is designed for SEZ, commercial and non-SEZ types of development. The domestic park in the new phase will have state-of-the-art facilities including shopping arcades, town centre plaza, convention centre, women’s hostel, guest house, facilities for rest and recreation, boat club, etc. On completion, the park is expected to provide employment up to 80,000-90,000 professionals. The state government has allocated Rs. 50 crore towards infrastructure development schemes for the second phase.
