Chandigarh: The cremation of singing sensation Ishmeet Singh, who died in the Maldives yesterday, will be held tomorrow in his native town Ludhiana.
The body of 19-year-old singer is expected to reach New Delhi later tonight, official sources said on Wednesday.
Ishmeet, the winner of the reality show 'Voice of India 2007', had gone to the Maldives for a stage show. He drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel yesterday. He was supposed to perform on July 31.
Condoling the death of the talented singer, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said, "He had earned name and fame at a young age and was bound to progress further, but a young life has been cut short."
Speaking at a press conference here, Badal said that the state government would make the arrangements to bring Ishmeet's body to his native place.
Badal also went on to add that he told Ishmeet's father Gurprinder Singh Sodhi in Ludhiana this morning that the state would arrange to bring the body.
A pall of gloom descended at the residence of Ishmeet in Ludhiana last night immediately after reports poured in that the young singer died after drowning in a swimming pool at a hotel in the Maldives.
Ishmeet being the only son in his family, his mother Amritpal Kaur was in a state of shock as soon as she came to know about the sad demise of her singer son who was pursuing his B.Com second year from MNC College in Mumbai.
