Detained student says loaded magazine belongs to her brother; court appearance on Friday.

Mumbai: An Israeli student was arrested in the Mumbai airport on Thursday when she was found carrying a magazine with 14 bullets in her baggage.

Twenty-three-year old Noa Haviv landed in an Israeli Airlines flight and was about to board a connecting Jet Airways flight to Delhi when airport staff found the magazine, police said.

They said she managed to get a customs clearance on landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Haviv told officials that the magazine belonged to her brother, an accountant in Israel, and she had put it in her baggage accidentally.

The police, through the Israeli consulate in the city, has received documents for the bullets and the magazine. Haviv will be produced in a court on Thursday.

Haviv, who is on an educational trip to India, has been booked under the Indian Arms Act and Aircraft Act.
