Hyderabad: In the backdrop of YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's arrest on Sunday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Hyderabad has been put on high alert.
Buses have been routed back to their depots and security has been bolstered across the city as police fear that Jagan's supporters could go on a rampage.
A large number of police personnel have been deployed all over the city to prevent any untoward incident.
The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anurag Sharma has urged calm. "The situation is under control. There has been no untoward incident till now. Please cooperate with the police and don't go on rumours."
The YSR Congress chief was taken into custody at 7:15 pm. Sources said that the CBI was not convinced with Jagan's replies and needed further clarifications in custody. He will now be produced before a CBI court, where the investigative body will seek police custody for the leader for further interrogations.
Jagan in his letter to Prime Minsiter Manmohan Singh had alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched by the Congress government in collusion with the Opposition TDP and the CBI to arrest him.
