HYDERABAD: Union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy has urged deputy chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia to take steps for announcement of a special package for certain OBC communities in Andhra Pradesh.In a letter to Ahluwalia, the petroleum minister said that V Krishna Mohan Rao, a member of the Research Advisory Committee of the ministry of social justice and empowerment, had represented to him on the need for development of OBC communities in the state.He said Krishna Mohan Rao had sought steps for a study by the working group and steering committee on the present status of the most neglected communities among the OBCs and the steps to be taken for effective implementation of reservation provided to them.The Union minister said that the working group and the steering committee constituted on the empowerment of the OBCs, nomadic, semi-nomadic and de-notified tribes should look into the development that had taken place and announce a package for some communities that need help badly.
