Chennai: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), one of the oldest trade bodies in the country, on Wednesday paid rich tributes to late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa saying she had "immense connect with the people of Tamil Nadu".
"The greatest contribution of J Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu was her immense connect with the people and her model of development was centered around helping poor and marginal sections of the society", ASSOCHAM Secretary General DS Rawat said in a statement.
While Jayalalithaa looked after the marginalised sections through her schemes, Tamil Nadu under her administration was among the top destinations of the domestic and foreign
investors, he said.
Tamil Nadu has been among progressive states and was ranked in the top three on several economic and social indicators. On the investment front, investments in the State
in 2015-16 accounted for Rs 11.1 lakh crore.
The State has attracted huge investments in electronics, glass and tele-communication in recent years, he said.
