J&K: Pak violates ceasefire yet again, fires at Kotha post in Samba
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister AK Antony said the armed forces have the freedom to response on LoC.

Jammu: In the fifth ceasfire violation in 48 hours, Pakistan on Monday night fired at the Kotha post of the Border Security Force in Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir. There have been at least 57 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in 2013.

On Monday at 5 am, Pakistan violated ceasefire at Poonch brigade. Ceasefire violation by Pakistan was also reported in Degwar in Poonch at 10 pm on Sunday. Three posts of the Indian Army reportedly came under fire. This was the third attack on Sunday.

Earlier on the same day, there was a ceasefire violation in the Mendhar sector, which is also in Poonch district. Pakistani forces also targeted two BSF posts at the International border in Kanachak. One jawan was seriously injured in the attack.

Defence Minister AK Antony on Monday said that the armed forces have the freedom to respond appropriately to a developing situation along the Line of Control with Pakistan. "The armed forces have the freedom to respond to a

developing situation there (along the LoC) appropriately," he said after the launch of 37,500-tonne aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in Kochi.

With continuous ceasefire violations, the Bharatiya Janata Party has upped the ante against the UPA government, demanding that talks with Pakistan be stalled. "Pakistan has violated ceasefire three times in a day. I want to ask the UPA government how long will we continue talks with Pakistan," BJP President Rajnath Singh questioned on Sunday.

Asserting that Pakistan has "crossed all limits" after the LoC attack, the BJP demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spell out what his government did to check the neighbouring country in the wake of its "continued atrocities" on Indian soldiers.
