He also asked for more time as he had only received on Thursday the Further Investigation Report filed by the CBI. The counsel for the petitioners told the court that the CBI had in its Further Investigation Report said that Nandakumar had tried to coerce and induce key accused Latha Nair to fabricate false evidences against politicians and other persons in the case to malign them by holding them as culpable for the deaths of Anagha, her father Narayanan Namboothiri and his family.The counsel said that appropriate action should be taken against Nandakumar as he had made false charges against the petitioners with the intention to discredit them. Nandakumar had also intentionally misled the court by filing a petition for further in investigation making false allegations during the course of trial. Former ministers and CPM leaders Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, M A Baby and P K Sreemathi on Thursday filed a petition seeking action against Crime editor TP Nandakumar for fabricating false evidences to malign them and also derail the investigation into the Kaviyoor case.

In a petition submitted before the Thiruvananthapuram CBI court, they said that the First Investigation Report filed by the CBI last month in the court could be treated as a complaint against Nandakumar and appropriate action could be taken against him in accordance with the law.
