KOZHIKODE: Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) will soon be introduced in the state to facilitate collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data and information between the police stations.
Data transfer between the police stations, state headquarters and the Central Police Organisations will also be made possible with the introduction of the system. The project, which is included in the XIth five year plan (20072012) of the Planning Commission of India, is introduced to enhance the investigation process by state police. According to information, CCTNS connects and shares information/data on crime and criminals throughout the State and country.

It would also create a national data bank of crime and criminals and their biometric profiles.

Memorandum of Understanding was also inked by all the States and Union Territories to undertake the project initiation and management activities at the state level.

The system would also felicitate one police station to talk to another directly and help the Station House Officers to access the record of crimes or criminals without depending on the manual records.
