BANGALORE: Keeping with the demand for housing, the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) has decided to build 10,000 flats in and around Bangalore under its ambitious ‘Group Housing’ scheme. Housing Minister V Somanna said that the board has already identified the land and the construction work would start in the next three months.This apart, the KHB has also decided to develop residential layouts in Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagaram and Tumkur districts to cater to the needs of all sections of the society.The board has already conducted the demand survey in these places.“Since there is a demand for houses, we have decided to ear mark 30 percent of land to construct houses in all KHB layouts in future,” Somanna said adding that the final decision in this regard will be taken at the board’s meeting on October 15.To a question, Somanna said that the KHB would take up the responsibility of providing drinking water and drainage facility in its layouts to be developed in future.
