BANGALORE: A 21-year-student of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room in MICO Layout police station limits on Monday evening. The victim Malini Murma, a native of Jarkhand was studying in the first year MBA course, the police said. The incident came to light when her friends visited her room. They found the doors locked from inside and did not respond to their questions. They alerted the security guard, who broke open the doors. They found her hanging from the roof. The death note said she was depressed over her love failure and she mentioned that a boy had cheated her. This might have provoked her to take this extreme step, the police suspect. MICO Layout police are investigating the case.Woman Stabbed A 38 year-old-woman was stabbed by her neighbour, after she refused to marry him in Basaweshwaranagar police station limits on Sunday evening.The victim Shameem had given `50,000 to Jameel, the accused, a fruit vendor. He had allegedly delayed in returning the money. When she pressurised him to return her money, Jameel asked her to marry him. However, Shameem turned down his proposal as she was already married and had two children. The victim’s husband is located in Dubai.Allegedly, three days ago, Jameel had threatened Shameem, but she had not paid attention to his threat. Jameel then stabbed her on the right side of her throat when she was walking near Ravi school, the police said. Shameem is undergoing treatment at the Victoria hospital and her condition is said to be critical. The Basaweshwaranagar police are investigating the case.Man Drowns in Kapila RiverKumaresh (39), a resident of Srirampuram, who had gone with his family to offer puja at Srikanteshwara temple in Nanjangud. drowned in Kapila river on Monday. He slipped and fell into the river when he was bathing with others. Though a few off them plunged to save Kumaresh, their efforts were of no use. Later, his body was fished out.
