Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the Municipal Commissioners and Police Commissioners to take Strict action against illegal pubs and bars in Thane and Mira-Bhainder cities to check the drug abuse in the state.
The CM gave clear instructions to bulldoze any illegal establishment related to drug peddling and to make the cities drug-free.
Pubs came into focus over the past 48 hours after a video from the Pune city, allegedly from Liquid Leisure Lounge or L3 on Fergusson College Road, showed some youths with a drugs-like substance.
CM Shinde’s orders come after some young men and women were recently seen consuming drugs in Pune. Taking note of the gravity of the situation, Eknath Shinde on Monday directed the Pune Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner to use bulldozers to destroy the unauthorized constructions related to drugs.
The CM directed officials to initiate action against drug sellers and demolish illegal pubs and structures that flout building rules. An extensive demolition drive was carried out in the city.
Following the demolition drive in Pune, the authorities are now ordered to take stringent action against illegal drug-related establishments in Thane and Mira-Bhainder cities.
