BHUBANESWAR: The State unit of Mahila Congress on Saturday demanded reservation of 50 per cent of party tickets for women in the panchayat polls. A resolution to this effect was passed at the State Executive meeting of the Mahila Congress presided over by working president Sandhya Mohapatra here.The meeting was attended by Ayesha Siddiqui, national secretary of Mahila Congress, and Odisha in-charge.  Siddiqui called upon the leaders to try and strengthen the organisation from the grassroots level. After the meeting, Siddiqui left for Kendrapara to campaign for party candidates for the municipal election scheduled for November 15.Former minister Bijaylaxmi Sahu, national secretary of All India Mahila Congress Asima Mahanand, general secretary of the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee Sabitri Sahu and senior leaders attended the meeting.
