A youth who was accused of posting objectionable remarks on a social networking website has surrendered before a court here.

A youth who was accused of posting objectionable remarks on a social networking website has surrendered before a court here.

Gaurav Tomar, who was booked for his alleged hate remarks on Facebook under Section 66A of IT Act (Punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service) in Shamli on April 25, surrendered before a court yesterday and was remanded in 14 days of judicial custody.

Action was taken following a complaint by Jamiat-ulema-e-Hind's UP president Maulana Jamaluddin with the district magistrate.
