KOCHI: The admissions supervisory committee, headed by Justice P A Mohammed, has given permission to the Kerala Self-financing Engineering College Managements Association (KSECMA) to give advertisements in newspapers inviting applications for entrance examination. The committee, which met here the other day, gave the permission as per the agreement entered into between the state government and the KSECMA. The committee instructed the KSECMA to conduct its own entrance examinations only if they failed to get candidates from the list published by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) of the state. The committee asked the Association to bring down the fee of the prospectus to `350 from ` 500. The managements should get the prior approval of the committee at each stages of admission, it said.  The decision by the court cancelling the entrance examination conducted by the Kerala Private Medical College Managements Association has put all the managements under the Association in the dock. Christian Professional Colleges Management Federation spokesperson George Paul said the verdict did not have any impact on them as they choose the candidates from the state list. “We do not conduct examinations on our own. But, we choose the candidates from the list published by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations,” George Paul said.“The court has not said that the managements would not be able to conduct examinations on their own. But, it found that the examination conducted by these colleges was not transparent,” G P C Nayar, Kerala Self-financing Engineering College Managements Association president, said.
