New Delhi: The CBI on Tuesday faced some searching questions from the Delhi High Court in the manner it conducted investigation into Priyadarshani Mattoo rape-cum-murder case.
While hearing the rebuttal of the prosecution to the arguments submitted by the defence counsel, a Bench headed by Justice R S Sodhi asked Additional Solicitor General Amarendra Sharan to show the evidence to disbelieve that accused Santosh Kumar Singh had manipulated medical documents to establish that he had received injuries in his hand much before the date of incident.
Answering to the court's query, the CBI counsel submitted two x-ray films of the accused stating it had both – one taken by the accused himself prior to the incident while another after his arrest at the time conducting Medico Legal Certificate (MLC).
The ASG claimed the Santosh had never received any treatment from Bara Hindu Rao Hospital here contrary to his claim and never visited the Nirmay Diagnostic Centre for the x-ray.
However, the court was not impressed with his submission and wanted to know if they have produced any document to substantiate that claim.
The bench wanted to know why the police did not collect more materials from the hospital to prove that the x-ray taken before the incident was not that of the accused.
To this, Sharan produced two original registers from the diagnostic centre claiming no x-ray has been performed in the name of Santosh Kumar Singh.
