Cold waves and fog intensified further on Monday as mercury plummeted in most parts of Rajasthan with Mount Abu, sole hill station in the state, recording the lowest temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Cold waves and fog intensified further on Monday as mercury plummeted in most parts of Rajasthan with Mount Abu, sole hill station in the state, recording the lowest temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius.

The plain areas of Churu, Bikaner, Pilani and Jaipur were hit by icy winds and the mercury dipped to 3.1 deg C, 4 deg C, 4.3 deg C, and 4.8 degrees Celsius respectively, a MeT report said.

"The North Western Railways (NWR) has rescheduled its three trains, and at least 20 other trains were running late from one hour to six hours due to the foggy weather," a railway Public Relations officer said.

The night temperature varied between five and six degrees Celsius in rest of the cities of the state. Icy weather condition is predicted for the next 24 hours in the state, the MeT forecast said.
