Allahabad: Five days after a woman and her five children were burnt alive in Bihar, another shocking incident has been reported.
In a gruesome incident five members of a family — a couple and their three children — were burnt alive in the Sadiyapur area of Allahabad, around 0300 hrs (IST) on Thursday.
According to the DIG Allahabad Range Akhilesh Malhotra, the two attackers doused the sleeping family with petrol, set them on fire and locked the door from outside.
The dead include Balle (45) and his wife Puspa (35) and their three children aged six, five and two.
Balle's 14-year-old daughter Nanu escaped the fire and has identified an attacker - a relative named Dada.
However, the police say, Balle's nephews, Mahendra and Bhaiya, were involved in the attack.
Balle had reportedly refused Mahendra's proposal to marry his daughter and had gotten her married off to someone else.
An FIR has been lodged against the accused in the local police station although no arrests have been made so far.
Neighbours say they heard the cries of the family members but could not do much as the door was locked.
Security forces have been deployed in the area to prevent any violence.
