CHENNAI: The Choolaimedu Exnora innovator’s club and the residents of Choolaimedu came together and appealed to B Valarmathi, MLA of Thousand Lights constituency, to take immediate steps to address civic issues in their locality at a function here on Sunday.After days of interaction with the residents as well as authorities concerned, the Exnora innovator’s club came up with a list of suggestions and grievances that was submitted for consideration. The list touched upon various problems and solutions, ranging from the poor response of officials in TNEB, garbage clearance, electricity crisis and traffic congestion to re-operation of the Mini Bus Circular route and change of door numbers.Choolaimedu, a large residential locality and a commercial hub, falls within the limits of the thousand lights constituency. It connects two of the busiest routes in Chennai, namely Arcot Road and Nelson Manickam Road. Alongwith the development of the locality, the traffic problems have also increased manifold. The area lacks public transport facilities, pedestrian subways, proper shelter for bus stops and much more.In her address, B Valarmathi MLA lauded the measures taken by the Exnora Club and assured that immediate steps would be taken to address the civic problems faced by the people in Choolaimedu. I have already issued orders to conduct review meetings every month to address the issues of the people of my constituency, she added.“I would come running up to the people of my constituency if required, as it is my job to serve them.” She said.With the newly-elected MLA having promised necessary action, the residents of Choolaimedu are expecting their demands to be fulfilled. The function was attended by residents of Choolaimedu and members of the club who felicitated the MLA. Dr A Panneerselvam, president of Choolaimedu Exnora Innovator’s Club, and S Kasthuri Rangan, its secretary were also present at the function.
